There are various tactics that a marketer can use to build passive traffic to their websites.  One of this tactic which work for me is distributing a free ebook with links back to my own website.

To summarize how this process work, I broken it down that into 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Create a free ebook with good content and pointing back to your landing page which the reader can get more great content/gifts.

Step 2: Create your landing page with an opt-in form and a gift to request for email/name from your visitor

Step 3: Promote your ebook

Step 4: Once your visitor opt-in, you can use other strategies (eg. One-Time-Offer, Tell-A-Friend etc) to monetize the traffic

The challenge most marketer hit will be in STEP 3 above.
