I was using my Gmail account as usual and then noticed a new “Call Phone” icon on the left side of my Gmail Menu.  See the screen-shot below of what I saw.

This was a pleasant surprise as I used Skype previously when I communicate with partners and friends in US.

Anyway, this feature is only FREE calls to US and Canada and it is valid for 2010.  So try it out.  It’s free (I guess Google is testing their VOIP setup).   I tried some calls and found there were lags in some cases.  Most probably due to the heavy traffic load on my end during my call.  So it could be different for you.
