In an video interview (above) with CNET News.com’s Ina Fried, Microsoft’s chairman explains why the company is giving away its developer tools to students and offers a glimpse at the rationale behind the Yahoo bid.
How does this impact you?
Well, 2 main points come to mind:
- The PC-centric world is fast moving towards to the Internet-centric world. Microsoft knows this and recognised that their grip on customer is eroding. By building up their online presence fast and then increasing their revenue online, they stay relevant to the times. This would give all advertisers another choice online. Currently Google is the “king” with its Adwords programme. I used Adwords personally and I have to say it work great. Stay tuned to see how this develop.
.
- Microsoft is giving away its developer tools to students in a bid to stop Open-source developer assault. If we study this in details, it shows that technology De-centralising is occuring. For more details on how this technology de-centralising impact you, read the Free 71 page insightly report at “The Rise Of The Author“

Do you use Camtasia? I do and it work wonders.
One of the main challenges I noticed is that there is a high-learning curve especially for people who are not technically savvy.
Well, don’t worry. You can check out the following free Camtasia training videos for free.
Btw, if you are hitting funny audio problems when using Camtasia recording. You are not alone.
Lon Naylor did a research and found the following method will resolve this audio problem.
Here’s the scoop:
Yes … there is a problem with audio playing in a choppy, sometimes high-pitched “Alvin & the Chipmunks” kinda fashion IF any of the following is true:
- The video is produced as SWF
.
- The video was produced using “MP3” as the audio setting
.
- The video is played in the latest Flash Player (version 9.0.115.0)
The temporary workaround is to eliminate any ONE of the above…
- Produce as FLV…it works fine with all audio formats
.
- If you must use SWF (ala the cool new ExpressShow Player), choose choose ADPCM audio. This really bites if you have music in addition to voice narration as the quality is lower. Try bumping up the Bit Rate setting…
.
- Roll back to Flash Player version prior to 9.0.115.0
Ya right!! This may solve YOUR playback problem but you have no control over what player your viewers have installed.
A fix should be forthcoming in Camtasia 5.01 (sometime in January 08) but it’s probably best to use one of the workarounds (I’m going with #1) for work you do now…
