Can you use a PO Box for your autoresponder?

A few members has started using autoresponders (good for you) and found that they were required to provide an address to be included at the end of all email messages.  For example, Aweber requires this to comply with the US CAN-SPAM law.

Have 4 Sales-Converting eCourse Written For You!Understandbly, some of you may be concerned as this requires you to reveal your own address to all your subscribers during the sending of your eCourses.

Well, let me help to provide some options to meet this US CAN-SPAM law while allowing you to protect your privacy.

Option 1: Register a company and use the company address

For those who own a company that is related to the niche that you are in, you can use your company address.  Unfortunately, not all people started off with a company (well … it’s a goal to aim for).

Option 2: Register PO Box

Yes, I used it.  Ted Nicholas used it. Rosalind Garner also used it. Getting a PO Box is as easy as taking a trip to your local post office.  In Singapore, it cost me S$63 per year for 1 dedicated VBox number (another version of PO Box).

According to CNET, here is what they wrote about PO Boxes, with regards to spam laws :

“If the measure becomes law, certain forms of spam will be officially legalized. The final bill says spammers may send as many “commercial electronic mail messages” as they like–as long as the messages are obviously advertisements with a valid U.S. postal address or P.O. box and an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Junk e-mail essentially would be treated like junk postal mail, with nonfraudulent e-mail legalized until the recipient chooses to unsubscribe.”

So, according to CNET, yes, you can use a PO Box.

Option 3:  Use your home address (as last resort)

Yes, this is also an option.  I’ve seen marketers using it (eg. Ewen Chia during his earlier days).  But do remember that you will be exposing your home address (some autoresponder services uses this by default).  If you feel that you concerned on this, I really suggest you try out option 1 and 2 above.

The True Nature of Gurus?

I enjoyed many of Mark Joyner’s cartoons.  This is because there were hidden lessons in each.  You just need to look deeper.

Below is one which it titled “The True Nature of Superheros”.  I had a laugh over this after reflecting upon it.  See this in the context of “gurus” and you will see what I mean …

Visit Mark Joyner for more of his personal development brain puzzle cartoons.

Personally I have invested thousands of dollars on my own training last year.  For the most part, I am happy with what I learn and were able to apply the new skills quickly (this is the most important part).

However, there was this particular well-known “guru” whom has greatly disappointed me.  Without going in the details, let’s just say many of us were really upset with the no-show on his support forum and no-delivery on his promise.

Lessons learnt:  A “guru” may be great in his area of expertise but he may not be a good teacher.
