LinkedIn Getting Stories

Finally LinkedIn will be joining the ranks of other social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat to have a stories feature. The main difference is LinkedIn’s Stories feature will be business-oriented.

According to a press release from the Consumer Products division of LinkedIn last week, the company is testing “a new conversational format for LinkedIn: Stories.” This is also reported on Forbes “How Businesses Could Potentially Use LinkedIn’s Upcoming Stories Feature

Pete Davis, senior director of product management at LinkedIn, said in a blog post that Stories provided a unique possibility to network.

“For example, the sequencing of the Stories format is great for sharing key moments from work events, the full-screen narrative style makes it easy to share tips and tricks that help us work smarter,”

You might be thinking, why is this great new for marketers like us? Well for one, stories offer bite-sized information content and can be used to drive traffic to websites and other posts. Short stories engaged your audience better in today’s environment. LinkedIn is also one of the platform which will give you a lot of traffic in 2020 if you seen my blogpost “Marketing Strategy That Requires No Budget in 2020

And hence the reason why this is a good avenue to start exploring for your online business this year.

The story feature will initially be available for LinkedIn users, but it’s likely that the platform will roll out Stories for advertisers in the near future. From the get-go it will enable recruiters and companies to share updates with their audiences in a more news-style, day-to-day format.

While waiting for this feature to be ready, you should first start building your LinkedIn marketing strategy. I have a great book selling on Amazon called “LinkedIn Leads Machines” that has many good reviews. I strongly recommend you to get either the Kindle or paperback version today.
