3 Killer Adsense Mistakes To Avoid

By: Keith Choy

Before you get all excited and start putting Adsense codes all over your website, don't do it until you finish reading this article. These are the killer mistakes that Adsense beginners often overlooked.

By not avoiding this mistakes, you could result in either lower money returns or even getting your Google Adsense account revoked. So read this article first.

#1 Always follow Google Adsense Terms And Conditions

It is strongly recommend that you read the Google Adsense Terms and Condition at https://www.google.com/adsense/localized-terms paying closely to the restrictions on "Adsense for Search" and "Adsense for Content" codes. As this terms may change over time, do check back occassionally.

As of the writing of this article, the following Ad placement policy from Google are found:

  • Up to three ad units may be displayed on each Web site page.

  • A maximum of two Google AdSense for search boxes may be placed on a page.

  • A single link unit may be placed on each Web site page, in addition to the ad units and search boxes specified above. Link units are considered to be 'Google ads' for purposes of these program policies.

  • A single referral button per product may be placed on a page up to a maximum of 4 buttons, in addition to the ad units, search boxes, and link units specified above. Referral buttons are considered to be ‘Google ads’ for purposes of these program policies.

  • No Google ad may be placed on any non-content-based pages.

  • No Google ad or Google search box may be displayed on any domain parking websites, pop-ups, pop-unders, or in any email.

  • No Google ad may be placed on pages published specifically for the purpose of showing ads, whether or not the page content is relevant.

  • Elements on a page must not obscure any portion of the ads, and the ad colors must be such that any ad elements, including text and URL, are visible.

  • Clicks on Google ads must not result in a new browser window being launched.

Follow the above policy to avoid the risk of your Adsense account being revoked.

#2 Avoid putting ads in your product sale page

This may sound obvious but a lot of beginners place Adsense code on the same webpage that they are trying to sell product. Every webage should serve one function only. If the webpage is selling product, it should focus in closing the sales and not distract the visitor with other options. The more options a visitor is given, the less likely of a sales.

In addition, having Adsense code on a sale page makes it looks amateurish. Committing this mistake will impact the product sales dramatically. You could be losing sales on that $97 product just to earn $0.50 for a click on an Adsense ads.

#3 Avoid puting ads near your opt-in form

This is similar to the Mistake #2. The goal of your opt-in page is to capture the name and email of your visitors. This is so that you can build up your subscriber list. Having your own list allows you to build up a relationship for future sales or JV partnership.
The monetary returns from your own list far outweights the earnings from your Adsense ads.

#4 Avoid only have Adsense as your only business model

Google Adsense is a success due to the reach and its user-friendliness. There is no doubt that this will continue for sometime to come. However, in order to grow your passive income, you should always be on a lookout for alternatives which pay you higher returns.

For example, for those pages in which you are getting high click-throughs, you could replace the Google Ads with links to affiliate products that are proven to sell well. Avoiding this focus only on Adsense will increase your earnings.
